STEP 1  - GET INFORMED

We recommend beginning the process by reading about our Adoption Program and our dogs ready for adoption. Read as much as you can about the breed, other adoption stories, etc. Email us for other inquiries.

STEP 2 - MAKE A DECISION

Now that you know the reality of adopting a retired sled dog, decide if they are the right companions for you. If you believe they are a good fi, fill out the ADOPTION APPLICATION FORM.

This form is meant to help us determine if adopting one of our dogs is a good option for you and for the animals. We want to learn more about your personal situation, expectations and experiences.

STEP 3 - APPLICATION REVIEW

We will review the application and get in touch with you as soon as possible.

STEP 4 - DECISION AND VISITS

If we believe we have a good match for you, you will be introduced to our potential  retirees.

STEP 5 - TEST PERIOD

Every new match needs a trial period to determine if the relationship works for both parties. We will work with you on techniques to facilitate the transition. It is important to remember that the new environment could create sensory overload for the dog.

During the trial period, less is more. Take the time to build a trusting relationship with your new companion.  This step is crucial to determine if you both can live together and should be taken very seriously. There will be not pressure to force a match.

We will provide you with a FACT SHEET to help you go through the first weeks. This phase will require patience and lots of love to allow their personality to shine through.

STEP 6 - FINALIZE THE ADOPTION

Sign the TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP FORM. We will provide you all the information you will need to know about your retiree (Vaccination, last deworming, etc.)

STEP 7 - AFTER THE ADOPTION

At this point, you are consider as extended family. We will always be there to support you. You will also be given the option to board your dog in our facilities while on vacation. We always love to see them!
